This 'scholar spotlight' series will celebrate our KIPP SoCal alumni on their incredible journey to and through college.

Metzli Cruz

This summer, Metztli interned in Washington D.C. as a policy and advocacy intern for UnidosUS, the nation’s largest Latinx civil rights and advocacy organization. She was accepted as a KIPP Federal Policy Fellow with KIPP Through College. While in DC, she assisted staff members with research on education policy issues to ensure the organization had well-supported arguments and data for policy recommendations they made to Congress members and various civil rights organizations. In addition, she was responsible for attending weekly marketing and communication team meetings where she documented information to report to the education policy staff that used the notes for future policy memos and recommendations.

We’re extremely proud of you Metztli, and we can’t wait to see what you do next 🙌🏽🎉 #ToandThrough #KTC
