In KIPP’s national 2016 alumni survey, KIPP alumni reported limited access to career-relevant internships. Students who cannot afford to accept an unpaid summer internship miss out on opportunities to grow their network and gain professional development. So this summer, KIPP LA’s KIPP Through College (KTC) team found an innovative way to address this issue through the KIPP LA Internship Program.

On Monday, KIPP LA welcomed KIPPsters to the 2018-19 school year and it is clear that students, families, teachers, and team members are ready to start strong, and stay strong!

KIPP LA will open its doors on Monday to students across the greater Los Angeles area for another engaging year of academic and character development. Our team has spent the past several weeks preparing for students and we are ready to start strong! Read on for more details of their summer sessions.

This week marked the first-ever KIPP LA regional “Start Strong 2018” summit at the Pasadena Convention Center, bringing together over 1,000 instructional and non-instructional team members with the goal of starting strong for the 2018-19 school year. Each day was filled with opportunities for professional development, team building, collaboration, storytelling, school beautification and so much more. Read on for details of the event.

At KIPP LA, our purpose is to prepare students in underserved communities of the greater Los Angeles area for success in high school and college so that they may lead choice-filled lives. 

On Thursday, June 21 the KIPP LA Board of Directors appointed four new board members who bring great diversity in perspective, ethnicity, gender, and industry to the leadership of KIPP LA Public Schools.

From kindergarten to college, our KIPPster recently celebrated their 2018 graduations. We can't wait to see what the future holds for these talented students.

On May 1st, many of our KIPP LA alumni prepared for the next chapter of their lives by committing to the colleges of their choice on National College Decision Day. Read on for details of their acceptances.  

MIddle-school students at KIPP Academy of Innovation in East Los Angeles recently participated in a special, virtual reality experience presented by Uber and Bell Helicopter. The companies are partnering to develop flying air taxis and wanted to share the future of technology with the future generation of engineers, scientists, designers, and mathematicians. Today, KIPP and the Sheryl Sandberg and Dave Goldberg Family Foundation (SGFF) announced that four Los Angeles high school seniors – Alejandra Ruelas, Anaid Garcia, Gerardo Alvarez, and Metztli Garcia – have been selected as recipients of the 2018 Goldberg Scholarship. They are among 30 students who were selected from nearly 350 applicants nationwide to be part of this inaugural cohort of Goldberg Scholars. Read on for more details.
